Charlton is one of the biggest robot light sculptures I have made in a while. He started out as an old battery charger all rusted and forgotten. Once cleaned up and all of the rust treated I then gave him a coat of vintage land rover green and cream. Charlton’s face and head comes from an old box camera that was to hand and seemed to suit very well his arms are a combination of bicycle parts with a spanner thrown in for good measure. Then came his legs, if you look closely you’ll find all sorts going on there, more bicycle bits along with old strimmer parts and a drill chuck cover to boot, all mounted on two baking tins. Charlton stands a good 27 inches 69cm high and 11 inches 28cm wide. The bulb holder is an E27 Edison screw thread with a vintage Edison bulb supplied. There is a generous length of flex with the on off switch located on the underside just in front of his left leg.
